Tocumwal - Nsw - Australia

DAY 250 Friday 28 September WEEK 37

Trip to Tocumwal (Toce). The Murray River runs beside this pretty country town. The scenery is very Australian; tall River Gums, river sand beaches, picnic spots, State Forest.

It is beautiful along the river and there are great camping grounds. Tents, caravans and all sorts of RV setups come for their long Christmas holiday break. Just think, the Australian summer hols by the sandy banks of the Murray River. Sounds good doesn't it.

Lagoon Koonoomoo Nsw Australia

exposed tree roots along the lagoon banks

Many of the properties back onto the lagoon. The water level of the lagoons are dropping dramatically due to the drought.

Can see this clearly; most of the large trees along the banks have had their roots exposed. Many have died and fallen into the lagoon. This long drought is having a huge impact on the Australian countryside.

Koonoomoo Nsw Australia

the famous big strawberry - koonoomoo

There are many fruit orchards around this area, including strawberry farms. Mmmmm delicious sweet strawberries, just picked and warm from the sun. This is also the home of 'The Big Strawberry'.

This is located on the crossroads at Koonoomoo, branching off to go to Cobram, Nsw, Melbourne and Mywee.
