Tambo Queensland Australia

DAY 189 Saturday 28 July.

Beautiful sunny day. Off to Charleville through Tambo and Augathella. Have had a really nice stay at Blackall for a week, sight seeing and working on computers.

The outback country scenery was very flat, dry and quite beautiful.

This lovely old Queensland outback town is the home of the famous and very cute Teddies. Made with lovely soft Aussie wool, they were first made in 1992. They were originally intended to promote the Australian Wool Industry, which had been affected badly by a long drought.

My favourite bear was called the 'Bickie Bear' It was FLAT! soft, very flexible and very cuddly. It looked like it had been stamped out with a large bear-shaped cookie cutter.

There were some beautiful original buildings here. Also lots of lovely bottle trees in the main street. We saw a few of these dotted along the outback plains as we drove along.
