Surfers Paradise Queensland Australia

DAY 77 Wednesday 4 April

Gold Coast. Drove up to Surfers Paradise today, Lucy and Graeme are meeting up with us on Friday for the Easter weekend.

Drove past Byron Bay, Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.

I took the wrong turning off the highway at Tweed Heads, and we ended up going through the main shopping centre!!!

The street was very narrow, passed all the Malls!! Could see the reflection of the 5th wheel and truck in the shop windows as we drove through - was fun!

Also saw the reflection of Tone rolling his eyes at me - "she's done it again!! I say turn left and she goes straight ahead!!"

Tone got us back onto the highway, and we were off again.

The scenery after Ballina was very pretty, green and lush, with mile after mile of macadamia nut trees.

As we approached our destination - Helensvale, we could see the theme parks, Wet and Wild, Movie World ( where we have tickets for ) and our caravan park was just accross the highway from them - perfect.

Got into the caravan park, and unhitched, set up the awning and side walls, put down our rubber matting, table and chairs - nice and comfy.

Lucy took these great photos on the following 6 pages for me.

Then off to have a look at the famous Surfers Paradise.

Well, I have never been up this way, except for our honeymoon in Port Douglas 25 years ago.

I couldn't believe this place - tall buildings all huddled in close together, miles and miles of them - people everywhere, all packed in and all doing the same thing - looked like Hong Kong!!

Aint never seen anything so rediculous in all my life!!!

Quick look down the beach and away from this ugly place.
