South Australia 2

Day 352 Monday 7 January 2008 WEEK 51

South Australia. Drove up to Ballarat to pick up the 5th Wheel then on to Burrambeet, and Burrambeet Lake Caravan Park.

I will not be going into detail about the places we pass through on the way to Perth, because we are going straight there to be at a wedding in a couple of weeks. We will explore all these places on the way back sometime in the future.

Lake Burrumbeet Victoria Australia

lake burrumbeet, victoria australia - completely dry

This is a nice spot, situated on the lake, but unfortunately due to the drought, there has not been any water in the lake for several years. Normally, this is a huge lake, and very popular with locals and visitors, with fishing, boating, swimming etc. But alas now very quiet. The local old folk have never seen the lake dry, hopefully it will fill again one day.

Stayed here for 3 days getting the caravan ready to head over to W.A.

Day 355 Thursday 10 January

Bordertown is our next destination. Nice day, warming up though - going to be 42 C today. Scorching hot day, arrived at Bordertown and now in South Australia. Straight into the van with the aircon. It was 44 here!

Flinders Ranges South Australia

Day 356 Friday 11 January

Not sure where we will stop today, heading for Adelaide. Made good time and through Adelaide early, so decided to drive on further.

Stopped at Port Pirie, with lovely view of the Flinders Ranges - was about an 8 hour drive from Bordertown. Stayed at a nice little caravan park just outside Port Pirie on the highway. Tomorrow, off to Ceduna.
