Rockhampton - Tropic of Capricorn - Queensland Australia
DAY 107 Friday 4 May
Off to Rockhampton and the Tropic of Capricorn. Arrived at caravan park at 1230, a little place called Gracemere.
Beautiful caravan park, it was a like an oasis, a little tropical paradise. Out in the middle of nowhere, the scenery around it was very ordinary indeed!
Settled in and after a cuppa, drove into town to check it out - 10 mins drive. Found the Post Office where we had some mail sent, should arrive in a couple of days.
In the street leading into the town, there were some life size statues of different types of bulls - see pic above.
There were also lots of them on top of buildings, restraunts etc. They seem very proud of their bulls!
This area, central Queensland provides 1/3 of the beef for Australia.
When Tone was up this way 25 years ago, the bull statues were all up the median strip, but only a few left now. People kept nicking bits off them, so they were moved.
DAY 108 Saturday 5 May
Very hot day, vivid blue sky, hundreds of flies. Went for a swim in the pool, lovely crystal clear water. Catch-up day, washing and working on sites.
DAY 109 Sunday 6 May
Beautiful sunny day. Had a nice sleep in and swim in the pool. Another rest day, park lovely and quiet. Off exploring tomorrow, maybe.
