Port Macquarie- Kempsey. Tall Timbers Caravan Park. Off to check out Port Mac this morning.
It was a big place, lots of shops and magnificent beaches.
Port Macquarie beaches are particularly beautiful, as there are lots of cliffs and rocks and tiny islands dotted about. Also lovely treed hills surrounding the area.
Starting to look a bit tropical here. Everything is lush and green and lots of palm trees amongst the native vegetation.
Checked out the wharf and fishing boats. I swore that I would never go and look at moored fishing boats again.
The reason being, my Dad was a professional fisherman when I was a kid and every time we went for a drive, even on hols, it was always - down to the wharf to have a look! Ahhhhhhh!! It used to drive me crazy.
But I have to admitt, I quite enjoy it now. I guess its the familiar boats, smells, and memories.

DAY 54 Monday 12 March
Went for a drive and picnic to Crescent Head and then on to Trial Bay where the big grey stone jail sits amongst heavily treed forrest, cliff and beaches either side.
It looked quite spectacular, against the lovely blue sky.
On the way, the road followed the river, which was quite close. There were little farms along the way, on the other side, they were also quite close to the road.
It was a bit like driving along the narrow country roads and through the little villages and farms when we were in England. That bought back lots of nice memories.
We had a picnic at Crescent Head beach and watched the surfers bobbing up and down in the sparkling blue water.
I couldn't help noticing that most of the surfers were grey haired men over 50. There were a few very tanned young ones with long dreadlocks. I guess the oldies looked like that many years ago.
