Gympie / Noosa. Then through a little rain forrest and gravel road, it was quite dark due to the thick folliage.
Driving along, we had a phone call from son in-law in Kalbarri. What lovely news - new bubby, a boy.
Noosa was beautiful, although very very crowded with people and cars, being the Easter Hols. It is so much more attractive than Surfers Paradise. Noosa had lots of apartments, motels and holiday resorts.
built against the hills
These were not highrise like Surfers, but built into the side of the hills, making them much more attractive and unobtrusive.
There were multi-story buildings but nothing like the monstrosities along the Gold Coast. There were also lots of trendy and expensive shops and many outside cafes.
The road winds around the edge of the beach below and was lined with lovely tropical trees and ferns. There was also a fenced walkway along the side of the road for people to walk to the beach safely.
It felt very tropical up this way. Couldn't take Snowy for a walk on the beach though, as there were signs everywhere - no dogs - $5000 fine!!! - Poor Snowy.
The beaches were beautiful and no cold shadows from high rise buildings like in Surfers. White sand and sparkling blue water reaching out to the horizon.
There were lovely white surfing waves, but they disappear further up the coast as the Great Barrier Reef starts and blocks the big waves.
We stopped and had a little picnic above one of the beaches and Tone took a little video of it. See below.
Sunshine coast beach
There was a young Swedish couple parked next to us in a little combi and they had just cooked pasta in their van sat out looking over the beach enjoying their lunch. What a fantastic way to travel around Australia on wheels, just stop at a pretty location and have lunch!
We then drove down alongside Noosa National Park through Sunshine, Sunrise, Castaways, Marcus, Peregian and Coolum beaches - all beautiful. Then over to the Bruce Highway, where we saw a huge strawberry farm and back up to Gympie.
we had a great day and a variety of scenery, farmland, forest, hills, mountains and coastline.
