Mission Beach Queensland. Still dark, grey and raining. Last day here, so we decided to drive to Mission Beach. Such a gloomy day!
beautiful tropical rain forest
Mind you, the drive through the Rain Forest to the beach was extremely beautiful.
Some of the way, the road ran along the beach. The sea was very rough and the waves were crashing onto the shiny rocks. Some brave surfers were out amongst the waves looking very cold, wet and bedraggled.
We came across a walking path into the forest, but it was extremely dark and gloomy due to the weather. We decided not to go in. Looked really spooky, would have been lovely walk on a nice sunny day.
bingil beach
In the distance the town looked beautiful. Long white beaches flanked by huge coconut palms all leaning to one side.
There were some shops there, lots of accommodation villas, the usual touristy stuff, but the beaches were wonderful. We kept going around to Bingil Bay, this too was very nice.
Wet Tropical Rain Forest surrounds all this area, and is part of the Licuala State Forest.
queensland tangerine sales on roadside
Raining again, back in the car and around to Garners Beach. Then headed off home in the pouring rain. On the roadside we bought some tangerines and left our money in the tin.
Sitting in the caravan sipping our hot chocolates, it was getting dark and the rain had really set in.
Off further north tomorrow, heading up to Fishery Falls, 30 mins from Cairns.
