Midge Point Queensland

DAY 130 Monday 28 May.

Midge Point. Rained heavily all night. Still very overcast and looking like more rain.

It reminded us of when we were in Scotland - and Scotch mist.

The locals used to say - "If ye can see the hills it is goin to rain - if ye can't see the hills it is raining."

Headed down towards Mackay to Midge and Repulse Bay.

On the way we turned into Proserpine to have a look at the town, then to Midge Point.

Midge Point Repulse Bay Queenland

midge beach

Big wide beach, lots of coconut palms and tropical foliage. The tide was out and could see mud flats far out to the water's edge.

There were black rocks sticking out of the water, acting as a wave break and it was quite choppy beyond these.

Some of the sand on the beach had been moulded by waves and it looked quite striking.

Also, very small crabs had dug themselves into the mud and had left tiny perfectly round beads of discarded mud around their entry hole. These made pretty patterns all over the mud flat.

Snowy had a fantastic time, tearing up and down the beach, circling around and around us, tail wagging madly, then off again.

Sprouting Coconuts, Midge Point Queenland

sprouting cocout palms

There were many fallen coconuts under the palm trees and some had sprouted and small coconut palms were growing.

Then on to Laguna Keys, a beautifully manicured golf course / resort. Continued on next page....
