Melbourne Victoria Australia. We are lucky enough to have two little blackbirds, male and female living in our garden. Their song is so clear and beautiful.
The blackbirds have been making a nest in the garage on top of the tall ladder. We noticed it when we got back from Toce.
They have been coming to and fro for days, with whatever they can carry in their beak. Dead grass, string, some little bits of silver and red tinsel left in the tree from Christmas, moss, dead leaves and small pieces of paper.
The nest is perched high up on the top of the ladder and doesn’t look very secure. It is quite flimsy and they have had to build it up dangerously tall to wedge it between the top rung.
our little male blackbird - isn't their song beautiful
There is a pittostrum tree at the front door in blossom at the moment; the perfume from the blossoms is lovely. Very sweet and quite heady.
This is where the two blackbirds have been living. They have been working tirelessly all day building their nest and then going back to the tree at night.
Snowy has been watching them intently from the front door, as they hop about the garden collecting their building materials.
The male is black with a very bright orange beak and the female is a brownie color with a brown beak.
It has been really tricky getting a pic of them, they are very quick on the ground and dart into foliage the instant they hear anything.
