Margaret River District. On the way back to Big Valley we turned off to check out Ten Mile Brook Dam and Rusden Picnic Site. This was a lovely drive.

A narrow winding country road took us through beautiful Australian native bushland and past vast fields of vineyards. It looked like they are getting ready for a wedding, with the vines draped with miles of clean white netting.
In the forest, there is a picnic spot with tables and chairs. These were scattered amongst the very tall straight trees. Various native green grass bushes and ferns contrasted with the brown tones of the tree trunks, fallen bark and leaves.

This forest consists of huge Karri, Blackbutt, Marri and Jarrah trees. The smell of the forest was beautiful; the eucalyptus, other scented bushes, fallen leaves and gum nuts. It had been raining that morning and the aroma was pungent, fresh and alive.
There are picturesque tree lined walks; leaf strewn paths, fallen logs covered in green moss, leading to the dam and river.

There were kookaburras here too. This is a tranquil place.
