Manjimup. The scenery on the way to Pemberton was beautiful. Farmland, fat healthy cows with their young calves, Karri Forest and lovely Australian native bush land.
Next we turned into Burmah Road and into the Gloucester Ridge Winery for a little wine tasting and picked up a bottle of Pemberton White to have with cheese.
how's this for an unusual tree
Just up the road was Gloucester National Park and the Gloucester Tree. This was another huge climbing tree and Fire Lookout .
Here within the Park, there was a lovely shaded picnic area and lots of tame Australian Native Birds. These were obviously used to being fed by the picnickers and even landed on extended arms if you stood still long enough.
There were also two clashing male magpies; the one on the left was trying to keep the other male away from the female behind them - This will end in tears! See video above.
They were more fun to watch than the other docile birds. They were making the loveliest sounds. You can hear them in the background.
i wonder what little animal lives in the cute hidey hole at the base of this tree?
