Manjimup. Next stop along Graphite Road was 'The Four Aces'. These four Karri trees were extremely tall - 75 meters, all growing side by side in a straight line. They were over 400 years old.
It is amazing to think how these monster trees grow from just one little germinated seed from their gumnut flowers.

In the information shelter, there was an open frame to look through at a 250 year old Karri tree - see pic below.
Back towards town now. Just out of town is another famous tree - 'King Jarrah'.
This was even bigger than the previous trees we had seen. This one is about 500 years old, some say even older.

This special tree was saved from being chopped down when the early settlers were clearing the land in 1910.
Imagine how long it took them to cut down these huge trees with just a hand saw and axe. There must have been one almighty loud, ground shaking thud when these enormous trees hit the ground!

The Jarrah Heritage Trail goes through this beautiful Jarrah forest. There are also picnic spots with shaded seating - by the way, these were all made with beautiful Jarrah wood.
