Hillston

DAY 218 Sunday 26 August

Hillston. Left Cobar and drove down the Kidman Way, our 5th wheel RV has been going along well. Road quiet today and nice scenery. Getting closer to civilization as we go further south.

Saw farms with lush green fields and tractors planting in the rich red earth. But there were still patches of very dry land with lots of dead, grey, dryed out trees. They looked ghostly.

Arrived at Caravan Park, nice little park, friendly family running it, and settled in.

Checked out the main street. 1/2 dozen shops and 2 Pubs. Police and Fire Station, Court House, SES.

Hillston, Lauchlan River, NSW Australia

on the lauchlan river

The town was parallel to the River Lachlan. Lined with trees and steep banks, the water was very green and the sky was reflected on the surface.

There were some old buildings, one, now the IGA supermarket used to be a General Store, circa 1911. There was a display in the front window, made up of old cans and bottles.
