Gympie. All packed up and off to a camping area 2 km passed Nambour.
Not suitable, so we decided to head inland, because all the caravan parks along the Sunshine Coast do not allow dogs.
We have stayed at some really beautiful free campsites, but they are few and far between in NSW and Queensland.
They are a nice change to alternate with staying at caravan parks, it is a shame.
Based ourselves at the caravan park, we did our usual trick - leaving the caravan and touring around, site-seeing and exploring from there.
This works well, doing day trips and checking out the local area.
The scenery along the old Bruce Highway was beautiful, very green, lots of hills and covered densly with trees.
There was also a very pointy mountain standing on its own - called Mothar Mountain.
It was pushed up through the earth by a volcano eruption thousands of years ago.
Can see the sheer rock around the centre of the mountain where it pushed through and the folliage of the surrounding area on the top.

Stayed at a small caravan park. This was an unusual place. Had to drive down a steep hill to get to the campsites and these were on the hill in terraces.
There were also some very wierd trees there. They had these funny hanging pods on them and when these drop to the ground, they are like black over ripe solid bananas.
They had very big seeds in them and they were all over the caravan park - could hear them thud on the caravan roof when they fell off the tree!!
Maybe that was why Snowy was so scared here - one fell on lil fluffs head when we first arrived! - it must have hurt, they were really hard!!
She probably thought that everytime she went outside, someone or something was waiting there to do it again! - Poor Snowy!
