Cobar - Nymagee town
Cobar - Nymagee town. As we made our way down the rocky hills, it flattened out and we came to the little village of Nymagee. Nymagee used to be a booming Copper Mine town before it closed just after the 1st World War. It has a mixed history, as half the population at that time were miners from China.

rocky hillsAlso, it has a bit of history; this is where 'Clancy of The Overflow' lived. The Overflow was a sheep station and is still here, 20 miles out of Nymagee. Clancy was the drover in the famous Banjo Patterson poem, Clancy of the Overflow. Now Nymagee is a tiny place, with the Pub, Police Station and resident local’s houses. Some of these were very old timber houses, with rusty tin roofs, stone chimneys and lovely front verandahs. They were so full of character. I would love to live in a house like that.

old abandoned house There were also some lovely very old buildings from the early days. A big two story building that used to be the Post Office. A beautiful old house and an old shop. These are now in gross disrepair, but have lots of character even now. If only we knew who used to live, work in these lovely old pieces of Australian history. They would have had some stories to tell for sure.
