Cobar - Stations
Cobar - Stud and Sheep Stations. Driving along towards Nymagee, we spotted emus amongst the trees, with their chicks. They legged it into the bush as soon as they heard the car coming, so couldn't get a pic of them. The adults took off first, then when the little chicks saw them running off, they followed. The Emu chicks looked like curlew birds we saw at Flametree, Airlie Beach. Thin, dark and light colored striped body, long neck, small head. There is a pic of these on the Airlie Beach page - Curlews.

huge stud bullAlso saw a huge bull standing under the shade by the fence. This bull was enormous, obviously the 'star' stud. This country was real outback Nsw and there were only a few Bull Stud, Sheep Stations a wide distance apart, along the way.

tone took this nice pic of nymagee countrysideThe Stations had their names on the gates leading to the long dusty road to the property. Here are the names of some we passed. Bonny Doone, Restdown, Fairwiew, Koree, Rosevale, Yarrama, Killala, Osterly Downs and Narri. Check out this beaut Aussie outback letterbox below, for one of the Stations.

station letter boxI admire these good ol' Aussie Battlers, working and living on these isolated Stations, in such harsh condtions. These men and women have struggled over the past 200 years to keep these outback Stations going. They have made it through drought, floods and extremely difficult times and are still hanging in there.
