Charleville. Arrived about 1500. Drove through the main street to get to the caravan park. Lots of beautiful old buildings.
Cobb and Co caravan park really nice, beautiful gum trees and rural surrounds, very friendly people. We love this kind of park.
They have a really lovely camping area for tents and camp trailers. Each of these sites has an open fire in a half barrel on legs. These fires look beautiful at night. It is just like camping out in the bush here.
cobb & co caravan park
This outback town has a history with Cobb & Co, they had a coach building factory.
The reason for having a factory so far out in the bush, was to do with the climate. Timber from the East Coast would split and buckle out in the dry Queensland country.
They solved this problem by seasoning the timber in the dry outback climate of Charley. Thus building the horse drawn coaches for outback Queensland conditions.
