Castle Hill Lookout

DAY 142 Sunday 10 June.

Castle Hill.We woke up to lovely fresh air, bright sunny day and lovely cool morning. Gets quite cold at night, we had to get the blankets out.

Nice relaxing day and such beautiful weather. I will get on with my knitting. Making a scarf for Lucy and Graeme. They are going skiing in New Zealand in July.

DAY 143 Monday 11 June.

townsville and surrounding areas from Lookout

Beautiful sunny day. Went for a drive into Townsville and to the Lookout.

The road up to the top of the hill was very steep. First through a cutting (red rock) and a small tunnel, then it wound right up to the highest point in Townsville.

What a spectacular sight! There were viewing points in different areas on top of the hill with panoramic views of the city and surrounding areas.

one of the view points

Townsville is surrounded by beautiful craggy hills and the Coral Sea. With Magnetic Island in view.

Right in Townsville itself, are huge outcrops of high red rock formations and the city was built around them.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so everything looked spectacular.
