Cairns - Atherton Tableland Cont.

color in the rain forest

Cairns - Atherton Tableland Cont. These three falls were only a short walk into the rain forest. Next was Zillie Falls.

The viewing deck to this waterfall was small and you could only just see the bottom of the falls through thick foliage.

elinjaa falls
Elinjaa Falls was pretty. But there were hundreds of steps down to the base of the waterfall to see it.

Mind you, very pretty rain forest and big boulders in amongst it. Lots of thick moss growing everywhere, a very damp darkish place, with splashes of color here and there.

North Queensland has some beautiful water falls.

lonely chook at crawfords lookout

Moving on, back on the highway headed for Innisfail. Stopped off at Crawfords Lookout on the way through. There was a lonely chook there.

The scenery was beautiful, the farms, the cane fields. The lovely soft fronds on top of the cane looked very pretty in the sun. It seemed to give them a pearly sheen, and miles of these cream colored fronds softened the landscape.

As we approached Innesfail, there were many banana plantations growing side by side with the sugar cane. This is where most of our bananas come from.

We bought some local fresh fruit and veg from the farm stalls and left the money for them in the locked tin.

Then we made our way back to Fishery Falls caravan park via Miriwinni, Babinda and Derral.
