Bourke - Cobar

DAY 197 Sunday 5 August contnued.

The Back of Bourke Australia. Very cold this morning in the open country.

We have now been either side of The Black Stump and now we have been here. Australia has some funny places and stories to go with them.

Lots of vast countryside, red dirt, greyish colored scrub trees.

Bourke outback NSW Australia

the outback

It was bigger than I imagined. Some nice old buildings. There were also miles and miles of grapevines. Vineyards here, would not have believed it. Also lots of fruit trees.

Cobar NSW Australia

old mine site, cobar

On to our next destination, Cobar. This was a lovely mining town. Staying at the only caravan park here, it is a very nice park.

Went for a drive around town after we had set up and had a cuppa. Found the Information Centre, that used to be the Copper Mine Admin building.

It is an old two story brick building and the Copper Mining Company sold it to the Shire for $1 ! when they closed and left the town.
