Ballina NSW Australia

DAY 70 Wednesday 28 March

Ballina 1,610 kms from Rosanna, Melbourne - our starting point.

We have done 1,000 miles to date in the caravan, and that again on our trips around site seeing etc in the truck.

On the way, there were sugar cane fields for miles and miles on the sides of the road. This was where the cane farming starts and continues right up to North of Queensland.

Staying at a lovely little caravan park - "Sandalwood" in Wardell - 15 mins from Ballina.

Set up our canopy etc, sat outside and had drinkies. Lots of space here, shady trees, very pleasant.

cuppa stop on the way

DAY 71 Thursday 29 March

Woke up to the sound of kookaburras in this beautiful park.

Drove around Wardell to see what was there - not much - then off to visit Aunt and Uncle and family.

Had not seen them for 30 years!!!! have never been up this way. I used to baby sit Aunty's little boys when I was in highschool in Port Lincoln, then they moved up to Ballina. I used to stay with Aunty overnight when Uncle was out fishing.

Was great to see them again, and met two other children that Aunty had after they left Port Lincoln.

The three little boys I used to babysit had grown up to be very handsome, and much taller than when I saw them last!

Also picked up some parcels we had sent to Aunty and Uncle's place.

Having trouble with the water pressure in the caravan - almost none! Tone reckoned the filter was blocked, and got it out, after much trouble, to check it out. Yep, that was what was wrong, so need to get new one somewhere.
