Koonoomoo Victoria Australia

DAY 2 Thursday 18 January 07

Cobram - Koonoomoo. Woke up this morning to the fresh smell of light rain and wet hay after very hot night.

Temp to be over 36 again today and Very Humid!!!- usually not humid like this according to locals.

Fresh water tank showing 1/3 full - but no water left after 1 shower - completely empty! - rather innacurate guage I would say!!

Pump not working, then realised that water tanks empty.

Arrived Cobram 1400 - 34deg and overcast. Booked into a pretty caravan park - "The Willows" with lots of lovely green trees and grass.

Park owners were very friendly and helpful. They were originally dairy farmers and had just taken over the park.

Used to work with my friend in Melbourne, and she and her hubby bought a property up at Koonamoo and moved up there 2 years ago. We drove to their place at Koonoomoo for dinner and had a nice evening catching up.

They took us for a great drive through the Rivergum Forrest Reserve - just up the road from their farm.

We had a competition with the boys in the front of the van and we girls in the back - spotting koalas - we saw about 7.

One was scratching itself and looked like it was waving! - also one mother and baby.

THERE'S ONE!

The track wound down through the forrest for about 15 minutes. It was very dry, but they said it is usually quite green. When we got to the river bank - there was a lovely long yellow beach.

Really beautiful - some campers there, but not as many as last year at the Koonoomoo riverbank.
